A True Story Of Love, Faith, Marriage, Family, Courage & Renewal

After The Storm is a compelling true story of triumph over adversity and breaking the cycles of a wounded past. Follow Ava on her 414 page journey. She speaks candidly about overcoming both childhood and adult adversities to finding true happiness in life. After The Storm is written in loving memory of one woman's endless love and compassion for her parents and baby brother.

In 1968 Ava's father, Pierre was a single parent of seven children, ages thirteen to three years old. He had won custody at a time when the courts primarily favored the mother. It was a tug of war between Social Services and both families. Each fighting for what they felt was best. Even if it meant splitting the children up and putting them in foster care. Growing up as an orphan himself, Pierre was ultimately faced with a gut wrenching decision. Due to lack of money he resolved to give up custody of one of his young children. Little Mark was severely disabled. He became a ward of the State of California, a devastating blow for all involved. Pierre was broken-hearted and never came to terms with that decision for the rest of his life.

Ava's two mom's include Kathleen and Sylvia, they were faced with horrific struggles of their own, Ava with a heart of gold, never stopped loving them through the most challenging of situations. Both mom's special in their own unique ways, taught Ava life lessons both good and bad that she used in her everyday life and still carries with her today. The hardships she endured early in life helped to build a strong foundation and put a fire of tenacity beneath her when she became a young pregnant teen; helping Ava to become the protective and loving wife, mother and grandmere` she is today. Ava has carried on her brother's, mother and father's names and honored them through platforms in pageantry, such as Mental Illness Awareness, Heart Disease Prevention, Prevent Child Abuse, Breast Cancer Awareness, those effected by various disabilities and hardships to name a few. Her father, Pierre, was her role model, her constant supporter and her hero. She misses him every single day but carries him on in her heart, in her family and her love and compassion for others.

After Ava became pregnant as a teenager, she married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart. Its not all dark, Ava and Sheree' have a sense of humor that will leave you reading with laughter as well. Ava shares what it took, through thick and thin for Rodney & her to reap the rewards of a happy marriage with longevity, many life lessons learned along the way. Hang on for a wild roller coaster ride of happy, sad and wonderful times. Through Ava's pain and adversity came hope for a better future. Ava's autobiography includes a spirited life of fun, how her daughter Sheree` writes about her mom getting mistaken as her and her brother's sister since the day they were born and even today. How they react to their mom being picked up on by men younger than them, it's all in good humor in how the family frames it. Something not taken too seriously in their life.

Ava has worked many years in the skin care industry for national cosmetic companies such as Maybelline, L'OREAL and REVLON. Ava owns, St.Pierre & Pierre Skincare, a mostly holistic and natural line. In her memoir she shares important skin care tips on how to keep the skin healthy, beautiful, young, smooth and renewing skin cells. Included are serious and comical stories of pageantry and why competing for the sash and crown brings greater awareness to Ava's platforms, causes and her sister queens as well aka "Beauty With A Purpose." There's an added wild game recipe and a family favorite dessert, Rooster's Campfire Smores. A few chapters on how this family built a strong foundation in business, ranch properties and love. Ava has always been able to grasp and feel grateful for the simple things in life as well as know what's most important. It's how Rodney and her have raised their children and now how their children are carrying on traditions with their own little ones. The triumphs of family, love, grace, peace, adventures and 'Paying It Forward' empowered Ava to know being strong and helping others in their time of need was her only choice for renewal. Her strength of courage with a smile continues to heal her mind, spirit & soul. A faith in a higher power that God always has a plan encouraged Ava to make the choices early in life to live with purpose and meaning through good examples for generations to follow.
